Author Name: Mary Jordan
Mary Jordan and Joyce Hatch are historians who have lived in John Tidd’s old stomping grounds all their lives. Almost 40 years ago Mary came into possession of John Tidd’s letters to Amelia Haskell, and since then she and Joyce have searched for background information in order to tell the story of a young man’s Civil War experiences, and of a nation nearly torn asunder.
Mary and Joyce’s great grandfather fought in the Civil War in the 137th New York Volunteers. Mary’s Pictorial History of Speedsville, (N.Y.), is in its third edition. She collaborated with Paul Mitchell of Talbothay Books on the 1996 reprint edition of Aunt Becky’s Army-Life (1867).
