Delores Chappell was born on March 5th in Waco, Texas; but raised in Northern California by two wonderful parents. She is the fourth oldest of six siblings.
After graduating from American Legion High School in 1974, she became a homemaker and a single parent. As her children became of school age, she went back to school in 1976 where she attended the Sacramento Skills and Business Center and completed a six month’s training course in the Nurse’s Aide Program whereby obtaining a Certificate. After working three years in the nursing field, Ms. Chappell tried her hand at something different and thus became a Supervisor working for JAM Pottery from 1979 up until 1982. Ms. Chappell decided to go back to the Sacramento Skills and Business Center in 1984 and received a Certificate in the Clerk Typist Program.
From 1984 to 1987, she worked for the State of California as a Seasonal Clerk at Franchise Tax Board. From 1988 to 1989, she worked for the Department of Economics, and shortly after, she started working for Child Action, Inc. Ms. Chappell also owned and operated “DEE’S Lil Darlins” Daycare from 1990 to 1994 and in the lateral part of 1994 to 1997 she began working fulltime for the Department of Justice as an Office Assistant II.
