Three Reasons Why Authors Write Books
Everyone is not born to be an author, but we each have a unique author/writer within us. Those that we cannot put into action, we express them through words, pen, and paper. Either we write to inform, persuade, or just simply share, everyone has a story to tell just like you.
But why do authors write books? Here are three reasons why.
To make money
Authors would like to sell books as their primary source of income. Let us not only assume that authors only write just for the love of writing or because they have a passion for it, but they write because they also want to make money from their hard-earned words. Authors can earn from their books in two ways: book sales and stuff they sell based on their book’s content.
To establish a personal brand
Authors would like to make themselves as experts in their fields. As professional writers, it is not enough that you are just good at what you write; you need to easily and clearly articulate the purpose behind your work for you to be able to convey its importance to the readers—create an emotional connection with your reader. Authors who can elicit an emotional reaction in a reader and emphasize what makes their book unique can earn a reader’s loyalty and trust.
To leave a legacy
What does it mean to leave a legacy? Is it putting a stamp on the future? The answer is “yes.” Authors for sure want to leave a mark on this word. We all do. We want to be remembered for what we want to be remembered. Authors want to share their experiences with others and be a mentor too. Authors share stories and immortalize them even after they are gone.
Some people leave a legacy by donating to foundations or just by simply helping others. But authors? They leave a legacy in the form of words—the books they write. Their book is the vehicle for leaving a legacy, somewhat like an inheritance everyone is entitled to—as readers of their books. Because when author write their books, they pour their heart out into every pages. Surely even after they are gone, their book will live after them, even after many generations.
As an author, writing a book will benefit others, and the whole world, because you can package your wealth of information, experience, and knowledge into it.
