Promoting Your Book
OK, you finally have a published book, congratulations! So, what’s next? Book marketing. It’s for people to find out about your work; besides, it’s the story or information that you’ve worked on for a long time. If you want your book to sell, to be discovered, and maybe one day to be on a big screen, then there’s a lot of work to be done.
Book marketing is for people to discover your book.
1. Your Website
You know this is a requirement, right? A website for your book or for you as an author is a must. If you already have a website, then you are doing it right. If you don’t have a site yet, don’t worry it’s never too late.
There are free web services out there that can give you free domains and stuff. However, paid services are way better – and you will look professional too.
2. Social Media
The year is 2018, and social media is a must to promote your book. [Warning] This can be extremely time-consuming as your Facebook and/or Twitter should be updated regularly. Use social media to connect, communicate, and hopefully, to attract followers – this is also a great way to convert your readers into fans.
Important tip: don’t spend hours each day to post a link to your book and tell them to buy, as this will only backfire and drive them away.
Another important tip: it’s not enough that you have a social media account, it’s essential that people find you too. So how can people see you? Through social media advertising. This is a practical approach for people to discover your book, although this is a bit technical as there are a lot of factors, strategies, and budgets to consider.
3. Online Press Releases
Announce to the world that you have a published book that’s worth reading to your target audience. Not only that people would know about your book, but this would also strengthen your brand as an author.
4. Get an Affordable Book Marketing Program
If you have all the time in the world to do and maintain the first three items, great for you! But if you are someone who has other important things to attend to, then getting a publishing company that offers to market your book is the better and easier path to take. You can free your mind knowing that someone is selling your book for you and that your book and your brand is being taken cared of.
